DID YOU KNOW that there is a test that will show whether or not you are of the seed of Abraham?

No, it isn’t a DNA test — it is simply a comparison of your claim with the requirements set by YHVH.

Do they match?

First of all, He wants you to serve Him because it is your choice to become obedient. He lays out His requirements, but you have been given free will to either accept or reject them.

What was the main characteristic of Abraham? He trusted YHVH. Genesis 15:6, “And he (Abram/Abraham) believed in YHVH. And He counted it to him for righteousness.”

What is the Scriptural definition for righteousness? Deuteronomy 6:25, “And it shall be righteousness for us when we take heed to do all this commandment before YHVH Elohanu, as He has commanded us.”

If you have accepted the Messiah, are you required to keep the commandments given to Moses by YHVH? Romans 3:31, “Then is the Law annulled through faith (trust)? Let it not be! But we establish the Law (the Torah).” When Paul said that we establish the Torah, what did he mean? One of the definitions of “establish” is to uphold or sustain the authority or force of anything.

When we trust YHVH, we will obey Him. That is how we imitate the Messiah, by following His example of obedience.

There has been much misunderstanding about the purpose of the Torah. It gives you a set of instructions for having life, but it cannot render a verdict of innocence. Before the Messiah came, the animal sacrifices were to cover the people’s sins when they repented from breaking the Word of YHVH. When they brought their sacrifices with humble and contrite hearts, YHVH declared them righteous and blameless. It didn’t mean that they never sinned, only that they were faithful to confess their sins and use the provision given to cover them.

Look at Zacharias and Elizabeth in Luke 1:6, “And they were both righteous before Elohim, walking blameless in all the commandments and ordinances of YHVH.”

And what did the Messiah say? In Luke 5:32, He said, “I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Sinners are those who miss the mark and therefore do not share in the prize (eternal life), because they do not keep the commandments in the Torah. Reference 1 John 3:4. Transgressing the Torah is also called lawlessness, and lawlessness is called wickedness.

Do you believe that you should obey the Ten Commandments? Exodus 34:27-28 tells us that “. . . YHVH said to Moses, Write these words for yourself, for on the mouth of these words I will cut a covenant with you and with Israel. And he was there with YHVH forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread and he did not drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.”

If you accept the Ten Commandments, do you also accept the other conditions of the covenant YHVH made with Moses and Israel?

Exodus 31:12-17 “And YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, And you speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Keeping you shall keep My Sabbath; for it is a sign between Me and you for your generations: to know that I (am) YHVH your sanctifier (the One Who sets you apart). And you shall keep the Sabbath, for it is holy for you; the profaners of it dying shall die; for everyone doing work in it, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of his people. Work may be done six days, and on the seventh day is a Sabbath Shabbaton, holy to YHVH; everyone doing work on the Sabbath day dying shall die. And the sons of Israel shall observe the Sabbath, to do the Sabbath for their generations; it is a never ending covenant. It is a sign forever between Me and the sons of Israel; for in six days YHVH made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.”

Sabbath means “rest,” and Shabbaton means “special day.” Therefore, the seventh day has been given to us for a special day of rest with YHVH.

Leviticus 19:3 “Each man of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbath; I (am) YHVH Elohekka.”Though you honor your mother and father, will YHVH allow you to break the never-ending covenant, the Sabbath, without penalty?

Genesis 17:19 “And Elohim said, Your wife Sarah truly shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. And I have established My covenant with him for a perpetual covenant with his seed after him.” If you are a believer in the Messiah and therefore consider yourself to be of the seed of Abraham, are you not also descended from the families of Isaac and Jacob? You either are a descendant of Abraham, or you aren’t! You’re either in the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel), or you aren’t! You are either a recipient of the covenant, or you are outside the covenant! There are no other choices.

Deuteronomy 4:8 “And who (is) a great nation whose statutes and judgments (are as) righteous as all this Law (this Torah) which I set before you today?” Did YHVH ever make a covenant with any other nation? No, He didn’t – only with Israel. This same covenant is the one the Messiah firmly established in His blood; and, if you are unwilling to accept this one, there is no other.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “Hear, then, O Israel, YHVH Elohanu is one YHVH. And you shall love YHVH your Elohekka with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.” In Mark 12:29-30, the Messiah calls the above the foremost commandment of all.

Continuing: “And these words (the Torah) which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart. And you shall teach them to your sons, and shall speak of them as you sit in your house, and as you walk in the way, and as you are lying down, and as you are rising up. And you shall bind them for a sign on your hand; and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house, and on your gates.”

Genesis 15:18a “On that day YHVH made a covenant with Abram, saying, I have given this land to your seed . . .” He also said, in Deuteronomy 5:33, “You shall walk in all the ways which YHVH Elohekka has commanded you, so that you may live, and (that) good (may be) to you, and you may prolong (your) days in the land which you will possess.”

Psalm 105:7-10 “He is YHVH Elohanu; His judgments are in all the earth; He has remembered His covenant forever; the Word He commanded to a thousand generations; which He cut with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac; and He established it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel for a perpetual covenant . . .”

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Because of this, know that YHVH Elohekka, He is EL, the faithful EL, keeping the covenant and mercy of those who love Him, and to those who keep His commands, to a thousand generations . . .”

How can we turn our backs on such love and kindness? And why do we settle for the traditions of men – worthlessness, and pull away from the Word that brings life? The Word teaches us how to live in peace and joy, for this is the life that YHVH wants us to have. That same Word became flesh and dwelt on earth, living the Torah before us as our example.

Do you know who the Father is? Do you know who the Son is? The Messiah said, “All things were delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father; and who is the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son may desire to reveal.” Luke 10:22

Do you have everlasting life? “And this is everlasting life, that they may know You, the only true Elohim, and Y’hoshua the Messiah, whom You have sent.” John 17:3

Did Abraham know YHVH, the only true Elohim, and Y’hoshua the Messiah? By the words of Y’hoshua, he did: “Your father Abraham leaped for joy that he should see My day, and he saw, and rejoiced.” John 8:56

If you are truly the seed of Abraham, whether by blood or by adoption, John 8:39 says that you will do the works of Abraham, for he knew YHVH and he trusted and obeyed Him.
