What Are Works YHN

DID YOU KNOW that doing the works of the Torah is the duty of a Believer?

“You believe that Elohim is one. You do well; even the demons believe and tremble. But are you willing to know, O vain man, that the faith apart from works is dead?” [James 2:19-20]

If you say you believe the Word, you do well. But if you only say, and do not do, are you not deceiving yourself? “But become doers of (the) Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” [James 1:22]

The description of the fast chosen by YHVH is a very good summary of the works that are our reasonable service. “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to open bands of wickedness, to undo thongs of the yoke, and to send out the oppressed ones free; even that you pull off every yoke? (Is it) not to break your bread with the hungry, that you should bring the wandering poor home? When will you see the naked and cover him, and you will not hide yourself from your flesh? Then your light shall break as the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of YHVH shall gather you.” [Isaiah 58:6-8]

To break the bands of wickedness, we are to give the truth to those in bondage, for the truth will set them free. And what is truth? “. . . and Your Torah is Truth.” [Psalm 119:142] In the Torah, they will learn of the Messiah, as He said, “For if you were believing Moses, you would then believe Me; for that one wrote concerning Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My Words?” [John 5:46-47] We are supposed to make disciples (students), not converts. The only conversion found in Scripture is for one to convert from being sinful (disobedient) to being righteous (obedient). Only the Set-apart Spirit, Who is the Spirit of the Father, can convict him of his need to come out of the world; and He, and only He, can implant the Living Word in our hearts. You present the Torah of Truth; and the Spirit will give understanding to those who are seeking the truth with their whole hearts!

“If anyone among you goes astray from the truth, brothers, and anyone turns him back, know that the (one) turning a sinner from (the) error of his way will save (the) soul from death, and will hide a multitude of sins.” [James 5:19-20]

The physical needs mentioned in Isaiah 58 are some of the same ones that James talks about: “But if a brother or sister is naked and may be lacking in daily food, and any one of you say to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but does not give them the things the body needs, what gain (is it)? So also faith (trust), if it does not have works, is dead being by itself.” [James 2:15-17]

SUMMARY: “But the (one) looking into the perfect Law (the Torah) of liberty, and continuing (in it), this one not having become a forgetful hearer, but a doer of (the) work, this one will be blessed in his doing.” [James 1:25]
