DID YOU KNOW that the Messiah Y’hoshua considered the Sh’mah the most important commandment of all?

Mark 12:29-34, “And coming up, one of the scribes, hearing them arguing, knowing that He (Y’hoshua) answered them well, he questioned Him, ‘What is (the) first (foremost) commandment of all?’

“And Y’hoshua answered him, ‘The foremost of all the commandments (is): (SH’MAH ISRAEL, YHVH ELOHANU, YHVH ECHAD!) Hear, Israel. YHVH Elohanu, YHVH is one, and you shall love YHVH Elohekka with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ [from Deuteronomy 6:4-5]

“And (the) second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is not another commandment greater than these.’ [From Leviticus 19:18]

“And the scribe said to Him, ‘You say well, Rabbi. You have spoken according to truth, that YHVH is one, [From Deuteronomy 6:4-5] and there is no other besides Him’; [From Deuteronomy 4:35] and to love Him from all the heart, and from all the understanding, and from all the soul, and from all the strength; [From Deuteronomy 6:4-5] and to love one’s neighbor as oneself [From Leviticus 19:18] is more than all the burnt offerings and the sacrifices.’ “And seeing that he answered intelligently, Y’hoshua said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of Elohim. And no one dared to question Him any more.’”

The Messiah credited the scribe with answering intelligently,and being very near the kingdom of Elohim, because he understood His comments on these two commandments.

In Matthew 22:40, Y’hoshua elaborates further: “On these two commandments all the Torah and the Prophets hang.”

What does the Messiah mean by all the Torah and the Prophets hang on these two commandments? Is it not that when you do these two commandments, all the others also will be kept? FOR YOU MUST OBSERVE THE OTHERS IN ORDER TO KEEP THESE TWO.

WHERE IS THE PROOF? Read 2 John 6, “And this is love, that we should walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from (the) beginning, that you should walk in it.” Some will say that this is speaking about the commandments of the Messiah. But is it? Let’s look at verse 4: “I rejoiced greatly because I found your children walking in truth, as we received command from the Father.”

And what is truth? “…and Your Torah (is) truth.” [Psalm 119:142b]
